Jim Wiley is a co-founder and member of the board of directors of Geminatio and president of Wiley Strategic Solutions serving international lithography infrastructure clients.
Previously, Jim lead ASML’s EUV and high-NA EUV lithography infrastructure strategy and initiatives including masks, pellicles, and resists. Jim created and developed the computational lithography (DUV & EUV OPC, OPC verification, SMO) business at Brion Technologies, leading to ASML acquiring Brion for over $300M. Prior to Brion, Jim developed and championed KLA’s reticle defect inspection division.
Earlier, Jim was a senior technologist, executive manager, business founder, business owner, and business development leader at semiconductor companies, semiconductor equipment companies and semiconductor materials companies. Jim is a leader in PMJ Photomask Japan and BACUS, SPIE’s photomask technology working group. Jim served as president of BACUS several times.
Phil joined Geminatio after 19 years at Dow and 3M with a strong background in materials for advanced semiconductor patterning. At Dow, he led the directed self-assembly (DSA) portfolio and developed several additional spin-on materials for pattern shrink and enhancement. He finished his time at Dow as a Fellow with technical leadership for catalysis and new product development for Dow’s >$4B Polyolefin Elastomers portfolio. Phil then joined 3M in 2019 as a Staff Scientist in the Corporate Research Materials Laboratory, where he spent two years largely developing new materials for 3M’s Electronic Materials Division.
Phil holds 95 US Patents with >100 pending published applications and has coauthored three book chapters and more than 40 journal publications. His research has been featured 5 times in Chemical & Engineering News, including a highlight in the 2006 Year in Review Special Issue. He is a recipient of the 2010 AIChE Industrial R&D Award and several Dow awards, including Dow’s Excellence in Science Award, a 2017 Dow Performance Silicones Technical Achievement Award, a Core R&D Team Technical Award, and the 2014 Electronic Materials Community Award. Technology he coinvented has received two R&D 100 Awards and an ICIS Innovation Award.
Phil currently a Scientific Advisor to The Institute for Cooperative Upcycling of Plastics and previously served the same role for the Center for Hierarchical Materials Design. He participated in the 2016 NSF “Frontiers in Polymer Science and Engineering” workshop and serves as a member of the Editorial Board at the Journal of Polymer Science. He has also served as an organizer or advisory board member of international symposia for the ACS, MRS, IEEE, and Japan’s Society of Photopolymer Science and Technology.
In addition to innovation, Phil is also a strong ally and advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. He was a founding member of 3M Corporate Research Division’s DEI team and steering committee member for 3M’s Womens’ Leadership Forum Group focused on retention and advancement of women on the technical career path. He also served on the Steering Team for Dow’s Women’s Innovation Network and was recognized as one of Dow’s 6 worldwide Women’s Champions in 2018.
Robert Maire is CEO of Geminatio and President of Semiconductor Advisors, a consulting firm that provides financial and strategic advisory services to technology companies, specializing in the semiconductor equipment and cleantech sectors.
Prior to that, he was among the first Wall Street analysts to cover semiconductor equipment companies for Morgan Stanley, DLJ, Bear Stearns, and Needham, spanning a period of over 20 years. Mr. Maire was responsible for raising billions of dollars, more than any other financial professional in the industry, through IPOs and other financing activity for companies such as Applied Materials, KLA, ASML, Sandisk, Agilent, Veeco, Cymer, Rudolph, MKS, and others.
He has provided critical insight and advice on many M&A transactions. He has been cited by both the Wall Street Journal and Institutional Investor for his analysis. Recently he has resumed publishing his acclaimed “Semiwatch” newsletter, which is a leading source of information and opinion for investors in the sector. He is frequently quoted in financial media such as The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and numerous online sources. He holds BSEE and BSCS degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
